Turnchapel is a small, peaceful village on the edge of Plymouth, set along the eastern banks of the River Plym with a long history as a former fishing port. Today, it’s known for its scenic waterfront, quiet atmosphere, and views across the water.

Surrounded by coastline and beaches, it’s a great place for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the outdoors, with easy access to the South West Coast Path. Despite its size, the village has a strong local feel, with a pub, historic buildings, and a close‑knit community that gives it a welcoming charm.

Take in the views at Mount Batten, a scenic peninsula overlooking Plymouth Sound. Once an important historic site dating back to the Bronze Age and later used as a defence point and RAF base, the area is now known for its marina, watersports centre, and relaxed waterfront setting.
