Their Vision:
Supporting families with childhood cancer from diagnosis and beyond.
To give hope, help, and support to families whose children are affected by cancer, providing invaluable emotional, practical, and physical support so that no one feels alone on their journey.
Some key statistics:
- Childhood Cancer is the biggest killer of Children over one.
- The causes of childhood cancers are unknown and are not attributed to lifestyle choices like adult cancers.
- Families in the South West often must travel 125 miles to access treatment in Bristol, often having to separate parents and children for weeks and sometimes months at a time. With some complicated or relapsed cancers, families travel to Southampton, London or if clinical trial, USA and Europe.
- A childhood cancer diagnosis lasts much longer than the initial treatment. Two thirds of childhood cancer survivors experience long term side effects. Later effects from treatment often cause lifelong issues.
Impact of corporate partnerships:
Corporate partnerships are crucial to the work of Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity, enabling them to provide vital emotional, practical, and financial support to families affected by childhood cancer across the South West. Through these collaborations, they receive not only essential funding but also increased visibility and valuable resources that help expand services, such as respite care at the Hugs Hideout and Counselling Session at our Brand New Hugs Wellbeing Hub. Partnering businesses also engage their employees and customers in meaningful ways, creating a community united in supporting children and families through challenging times. Together, we can make a lasting difference, bringing hope and comfort when it is needed most.
