We are excited to announce the success of our annual Santa Bus, which ran from the end of November until December 21st, to raise funds for two incredible local charities: Jeremiah’s Journey in Plymouth and Penhaligon's Friends in Cornwall. These two charities provide essential support to bereaved children and their families, helping them through some of the toughest times of their lives.
For the fifth consecutive year, our Santa Bus, operated entirely by volunteers, travelled through the streets of Plymouth and Cornwall, bringing festive joy and holiday cheer to local communities. It’s become a beloved event that so many look forward to each year, and we are thrilled to see it continue to grow.
This year, we raised £1,827.45 in Cornwall and £762.20 in Plymouth, thanks to the generosity of the public. We were also able to add an extra £189.36 to each total from our charity pot, bringing the final donations to £951.56 for Plymouth and £2,016.81 for Cornwall.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who supported the Santa Bus and donated to these two fantastic causes,” said Jess Bolt, Marketing Manager for Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of the local communities and the dedication of our amazing volunteers, we’ve been able to make a real difference for children and families who need support.”
John Naismith, Supporter Engagement Manager from Jeremiah’s Journey said, “We are so grateful to CityBus for selecting Jeremiah’s Journey as one of their supported charities for the 2024 Santa Bus tour. Not only did the tour bring such joy to children, young people and families it has helped support grieving children, young people and families across Plymouth and the immediate surrounding areas. Thank you so much to CityBus and everyone that donated.”
Jeremiah's Journey and Penhaligon's Friends continue to provide vital services, helping children and families navigate grief after the loss of a loved one. The funds raised through our Santa Bus will go directly toward supporting their important work.
Julie Parker, CEO of Penhaligon’s Friends commented, “We are so grateful to have been included in this year’s Santa Bus, and to all the volunteers who made this possible. Events like this really help to raise our profile, enabling more of our community to be aware of our support. The money raised will enable us to fund books and resources to support the bereaved children and young people we support over the next year. A huge thank you to everyone involved!”
The Santa Bus event has become a highlight of the Christmas season for many, and we can’t wait to bring it back later this year. A huge thank you to everyone who made th2 2024 event a success and for supporting these worthy causes.
