Plymouth Citybus shortlisted for national award

Plymouth Citybus has been shortlisted for a national award in recognition of its success over the past year in raising passenger and employee satisfaction, modernising its fleet and supporting the local community.

Supported by the Department for Transport and industry body, Transport Focus, the National Transport Awards celebrate the successes that have been achieved on transport projects.

Citybus is up against four other bus companies from around the UK for the Bus Operator of the Year Award including other Go-Ahead Group operator, Go South Coast Ltd, and First Glasgow, National Express West Midlands and Stagecoach East Scotland.

Projects and companies are recognised for the tangible results they’ve achieved, improving the experience for their transport users and ultimately adding to the successful development of the nation’s transport infrastructure.

After coming runner up at these awards for the last four years, this year Plymouth Citybus believes it is in a strong position to go one better.

Winners of the National Transport Awards, which is sponsored by the Department for Transport, will be announced on 31 October 2019 at a ceremony in London.

Plymouth Citybus has seen employee and passenger satisfaction scores rise to industry-leading levels, with the latter reaching 93% in 2019. Over the past year the company also increased its spend in the local community by 20%, supporting a number of worthy community projects and charitable causes.

Richard Stevens, Managing Director, said: “This is a huge achievement for Plymouth Citybus and we’re pleased that the work we’re doing is being recognised as leading the way on a national scale.

“We are constantly making improvements to benefit our passengers, stakeholders and team. It’s important to us that transport in the city is at the forefront of innovation and this award nomination is testament to our work in trying to achieve this.”
