Reduced/Child fares are available to those under the age of19, if you look 19 or older you may be asked to prove your age especially when traveling on our evening services, to those under the age of 23 in full time education and in possession of an approved ID card, i.e. NUS Card and to National Concession Travel Pass holders when their pass does not enable free travel, i.e. before 09:30 in Plymouth.

7 Day paper tickets a quick and easy to buy and use but they need to be looked after as the driver needs to be able to see the information on the ticket when presented for travel.

Vouchers are so easy to use, buy a book then just hand a voucher to your driver who will issue you a DayRider ticket valid for the rest of the day on all Plymouth Citybus services.

Stored Value credits available in multiples of £5.00, £10.00, £15.00, £20.00 (S, B, P) PayPoint is available in multiples of £10. This is a great product and works just in the same way as topping up credit on a mobile phone. Put credit on your card then purchase your bus fares as you need.

English Free Travel Scheme (For Free travel OAP’s and disabled passengers must show a valid pass to the driver, these are available from your local council)

In Plymouth OAP’s & disabled passengers can travel free between 09:30** and 23:00 Mon to Fri and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays within Plymouth City. ** Plymouth resident over 80’s can travel free all day until 23:00** Please state your destination when boarding your bus.

In Cornwall OAP’s & disabled passengers can travel all day every day free in Cornwall and into Plymouth. (Return journeys from Plymouth come under the national scheme time rules) Please state your destination when boarding your bus.

In West Devon or South Hams OAP’s & disabled passengers can travel free between 09:00 and 23:00 Mon to Fri and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays within West Devon or South Hams. Please state your destination when boarding your bus.

The above rules are applicable to the residents of each scheme Plymouth Citybus covers. If you are a non resident travelling outside your home area you will come under the England national rules for free travel which is between 09:30 and 23:00 Mon to Fri and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Joint School and Student Riders are valid for use on both Plymouth Citybus and First Devon & Cornwall on all Plymouth local bus services during Plymouth school term dates.

(School Riders must be accompanied with a Valid in date Red Concession travel pass, where appropriate, to validate travel and for purchase) these passes are issued by Plymouth City Council and not by the local bus companies

Student Riders are available to those under the age of 19 and to those in full time education (Proof of being in full time education is required, (i.e. student enrolment or suitable ID) School Riders are available to those in procession of the RED Concession travel pass available from Plymouth City Council.

We hope that you will be very happy with your chosen product, should you wish to change your product, i.e. from All Zone to one Zone then you would need to take your card to our Travel Shop for the card to be updated for the new product type.

If you decide that the card is not for you then we will, under certain circumstances refund any unused product calculated at full days remaining less 10%

Fare Changes from Sunday 6th June 2010

For the first time in almost 2 years Plymouth Citybus needs to make some adjustments to fares from Sunday 6th June 2010.

The change in fares represents a 3.5% increase overall with no changes to the price of our great range of season tickets.

The table below shows the current adult fare along with the new fare.

No changes to fares on our rural Services 49 and 59 as these fares are controlled by Devon County Council outside the City boundary. The following ticket types are to be withdrawn. Derriford/Devonport/Plympton transfer tickets and Derriford/Devonport and Plympton Special Fares. Alternative ticket types are available in the form of the DayRider and Transfer ticket.

Reduced/Child Fare Changes.

Child and Reduced fares will be available to those under the age of 19 and those under the age of 23 in full time education at an establishement that is able to supply a simple ID card that shows the holder is in full time education. (NUS card is a good example).

Reduced fares will also be available to National Consession Travel pass holders who are unable to use their pass for travel. i.e before 09:30 in Plymouth.

However, in order to pay for increasing the age of availabilty of Reduced fares from 15 to 18 and to extend availability to include those under the age of 23 in full time education there needs to be the following adustment to Reduced/Child fares.

The changes to Child fares represents a no better no worse off situation for Plymouth Citybus. Clearly increasing the age of those eligible for Reduced/Child fares is a significant cost to Plymouth Citybus, a cost that is in part covered by anticipated passenger growth but also by reducing the discount available to young people currently using Plymouth Citybus. There are no changes to the Plymouth Concession School Travel fare.
